| As of July 1, 2001, the state inheritance tax is repealed for deaths occurring on or after July 1, 2001. Such estates will no longer be subject to additional taxation. More of your wealth may be transferred to your family or other intended beneficiaries. In addition to no state income tax, there is no state intangible tax, and no personal property tax. Because of South Dakota's favorable tax climate, your money is not eaten away by unnecessary taxes. Also, state laws offer creditor protection for beneficiaries, and privacy statutes allow you to protect your private affairs. Your personal wealth may continue to grow and compound for years to come. |
